Nine Years a Rising Star, Now a Super Lawyer: Big Super Lawyers News at AJLJ Law

Rated by Super Lawyers 2027 badge

We have some news we are pretty proud of: Ashley Jones has been named to the Super Lawyers list for both 2026 and 2027.

If you have followed our firm for a while, you know this has been a long time coming. Ashley was named a Super Lawyers Rising Star every single year from 2017 through 2025, nine years in a row. Rising Stars recognizes outstanding attorneys in the earlier part of their careers. Being elevated to the full Super Lawyers list is the next step, and it is a big one.

She is in good company here at the firm. Leslie Johns has been selected to the Super Lawyers list for 2025, 2026, and 2027, after being named a Rising Star in 2024. That means both AJLJ Law partners now hold current Super Lawyers recognition for their work in criminal defense.

So what does this actually mean? Super Lawyers is a rating service that recognizes lawyers through a combination of peer nominations, independent research, and evaluations. No more than five percent of the attorneys in the state are selected each year. There is no self-nomination and no buying your way onto the list. The recognition comes from the legal community itself.

That is the part that means the most to us. Criminal defense is demanding work, and the people best positioned to judge it are the attorneys and judges who see it up close. Recognition from peers is a compliment we do not take lightly.

Of course, awards are not why we do this. Behind every case we take is a real person facing one of the hardest moments of their life. Our job is to stand next to that person and fight, and that does not change no matter what lists we are on.

But we would be lying if we said this one did not feel good. Congratulations to Ashley on joining the Super Lawyers list, and to Leslie on her continued selection.
